Carrier Lincoln leaves on 7-month tour

The aircraft carrier deployed Thursday from Everett, WA where they are home ported and came on down to sunny San Diego to pick up their air wing and another 1,500 crew members. They are headed toward the Persian Gulf to support the global war on terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan. The 3,600 crew members are expected to be gone for the standard six to seven month deployment.

I just stumbled on your blog. My Son is Navy JROTC & wants to become carreer Navy. Also I saw this about the Lincoln, My Stepkids live with me fulltime & Their mom is the USS SHOUP, which left right after the Lincoln fron Everett. Just wanted to say hello!
